Managing Sucessful Programmes (MSP®) is like PRINCE2® a Best Practice methos. MSP is a structured method to manageme change processes through the use of Programme Management.
Programme Management may be defined as the co-ordinated organisation, direction and implementation of a portfolio of projects and activities that together achieve outcomes and realise benefits that are of strategic importance.
Usually a Programme life cyle spans across several years.
Best Practice in Programme Management
The method was developed through the collection of many man years practical experience of senior program managers in the world. This means that the method not only reflects best practice, but also is directly applicable in practice and has been tested out in the 'real world'.
MSP provides tools to ensure the program's profitability, value realization and unification of the program in relation to strategic corporate goals.
A programme vs. a project
A project is defined as a temporary organization, where the objective is to deliver one or more product or services according to a Business Case
Programme Management does not replace the need for competent project management or control, as the Programme must necessarily be supported by projects that are effectively controlled, directed and managed as a portfolio to ensure value realization
Training and certifications
The are 3 levels of accreditations in in MSP: Foundation, Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner.

Exams in MSP is developed by the APM Group in coorperation with the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and The Stationary Office (TSO) and is based upon the official PRINCE2 Manual.
If the delegate chooses to take several exams in continuation and passes them all, the delegate will only received the certificate for the passed exam on the highest exam level.
