P3M3® stands for Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model, and is a trademark of the OGC (Office in Government Commerce)
P3M3 is a reference guide to a structured Best Practice and deals with maturity within Portfolio, programme and project maturity, broken down into a hierachy of KPA's (Key Process Areas).
This hierarch approach gives organizations a possiblity to evaluate the baseline of its execution ability and develop a road map for further development
Several Danish and Global business' uses P3M3 for maturity assessing their project organizations, and several Government contracts contains elements from the P3M3 model.
P3M3 is developed on the experience of other maturity models like CMMI® and PMMM and is divided into 5 levels.
The methods are developed based on the experiences of the UK Office of Government Commerce, that has been collected since the 1980s - on the optimization of the public sector in England. Since then, methods have been developed and used by most sectors in business today. Among some of the best known companies using one or more of the methods include:
