MSP® Practitioner in English

MSP Practitioner is an intensive course which aims at consolidating your knowledge of the MSP method as well as enabling your successful completion of the MSP Practitioner exam.

Course Benefits

Participating in MSP Practitioner will give you a detailed knowledge of the MSP method including the documentation which is required throughout the lifecycle of a programme.
Upon a successful completion of your exam, you will be accredited as Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner.

Participant Profile
This course is relevant, if you want a thorough knowledge of the MSP method and wish to work with programme management. You are involved in programmes as e.g. programme manager, programme delegates or project executive, and are an experienced project manager. As senior executive, programme owner, change agent or otherwise involved in change management you can also benefit from this course. You may also be project manager wanting to develop your skills and strengthen your personal career opportunities.

Participant Requirements

You must be certified at MSP Foundation level to participate in the course and take the Practitioner exam.

Course Structure

The course is held as an intensive 3-day daytime course. On Days 1 – 2, the course runs from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., and on Day 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that evening work will be required.
The course is held using materials and exam in English.
As participant you are expected and encouraged to contribute actively during the course activities which will alternate between theoretical reviews and exercises. Theory will be reviewed in relation to practical examples. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to rehearse mock exams.
The course concludes with a 2½ hour long Practitioner exam. The exam is based on a case designed to test your understanding of the principles of the method. The exam consists of 8 questions worth 80 points in total. A minimum score of 40 points is required to pass. If English is not your mother-tongue, you can request an extra 30 minutes to answer the exam questions.
It is permitted to bring the MSP Manual to the exam.
PeopleCert will mark your exam papers, and you may expect to receive your result within approximately 2 workdays.

Overview of the seven principles which form the framework of the MSP method and how the principles are applied during the programme lifecycle
• MSP Themes
Overview of the nine management themes of the MSP method and how each theme supports management of programmes, risks and quality.
• MSP Lifecycle
Review of the stages of a programme
• MSP Advanced Practitioner exam preparation
Review of typical exam questions, mapped against key areas of the MSP manual.
How to structure your time during the Practitioner exam
Mock exam practice marked and feedback given by the trainer

Course Preparations

Approximately three weeks before course start, you will receive a pre-course workbook including exercises and recommendations of relevant reading in the manual. We recommend that you spend an estimated 20 hours going through the case and pre-course workbook prior to your participation in the course.

Our trainers are highly experienced consultants, actively providing advice and assistance in relation to project, programme and portfolio management. This means that they bring both a high level of practical experience and theoretical knowledge to the course.
